• People come to the temple of Saint Yakinthos, a tiny, circular chapel constructed of stone that is located atop Mount Psiloreitis, at an elevation of 1,200 meters, as part of Cretantradition (3,937 feet).
• Construction in the “mitato” style, it is a straightforward construction that is reminiscent of a traditional shepherd’s hut.
• Yakinthos was a high-ranking courtier under Emperor Traianos (Trajan), according to the Orthodox Church, who had ordered him to forsake his faith in Christ.
• A jail located 12 kilometers (7 miles) south of the town of Anogeia, Crete, was used to house Yakinthos when he simply refused to comply with his captors’ demands.
• The saint, who then refused to eat for forty days, eventually starved to death at the age of twenty, earning the title of martyr for Christ.
• The outraged Emperor Traianos subsequently ordered that the martyr’s corpse be thrown to the wild beasts, but his body remained unharmed since the angels continued to guard it.

How to Pick a Patron Saint for Your Relationship

Adelaide was a princess who was married to King Lothair II of Italy.

The Empress was greatly adored by her subjects because she was particularly committed to the welfare of the impoverished and destitute.

Gengulphus was married to an adulterous wife, yet he was hesitant to divorce her in order to avoid embarrassment in public.

Despite his enormous generosity towards her, she planned with her lover to assassinate him in the year 760, and he died as a result.

Joseph is the Patron Saint of Marriage and Stepfamilies.

His devotion to the Virgin Mary and to Jesus compelled him to devote his life to serving them both.

Rita of Cascia is known as the “Patroness of Difficult Marriages.” Rita’s spouse was very aggressive, and this caused her a great deal of distress and anxiety.

Thomas More stood up to the lecherous and duplicitous King Henry VIII on the issue of marriage in order to defend the teachings of the Catholic Church.

As a matter of fact, he had the good fortune to be married twice, the first to Jane Colt and the second to widow Alice Middleton, both of whom were extraordinarily happy marriages.

Valentine, Patron Saint of Happy Marriages and Betrothed Couples, is celebrated on February 14th.

The moment he was discovered performing weddings for Christian couples, he was apprehended and imprisoned.

Sacred Heart of Castor Gabrielli, Patron Saint of Abused Spouses Gabrielli was married to a lawyer from Umbria who beat her on a daily basis.

Dorothy had a very tough marriage in which she was subjected to physical and verbal abuse at the hands of her husband.

In 1389, while on a pilgrimage to Rome, she became unwell and was forced to stay in the city to recover.

She decided to become a nun and acquired a deep devotion to the Blessed Sacrament throughout her time as a nun.

She rose to the position of prophetess, visionary, and miracle worker.

Edward the Confessor, Patron of the Virtue of Patience in Marriage, is a saint who lived in the fourth century.

He established himself as a capable ruler and earned a reputation for his kindness toward the poor, pilgrims, and outsiders.

Edward was rumored to be able to heal people with the touch of his fingertips.

Diniz was a moral reprobate, and as a result, Elizabeth endured years of abuse and infidelity at the hands of Diniz; nonetheless, she never stopped praying for his conversion.

She even persuaded a few of the women of her court to lend a hand with her charitable endeavors.

She rode into combat on two occasions, putting herself in risk in the process of separating warring groups within her own family in order for them to pursue peace, earning her the reputation as a peacemaker in the process.

She subsequently went on to become a nun in a convent in Coimbra that she had created.

She refused to put on shoes and dressed in rags in order to better connect herself with the impoverished, which she did successfully.

Patron Saint of Widows, St.

Only two of their six children survived infancy, and both went on to become priests.

She established the Sisters of Charity of the General Hospital of Montreal (also known as the Grey Nuns) on December 31, 1737, and they have been in existence since.

The hospital was quickly restored to full operation and began providing extensive services to the city’s poor.

Radegunde, Patron of Childless Marriages, is a patron saint of childless marriages.

She went on to become Queen of France after her marriage to Charles I of France.

In 555, she finally managed to get away from him and entered the St.

She established the Convent of the Holy Cross in Poitiers, France, and remained there for the remainder of her life, which spanned 30 years.

Catherine of Genoa is the Patron Saint of Abused Wives.

Catherine was educated at the University of Genoa.

They were never blessed with children, and Giuliano wasted his family’s riches, leaving them both bankrupt.

Despite the fact that Catherine had always been religious, the abuse she had suffered caused her to become spiritually indifferent, and she sank into a deep despair.

She was successful in bringing her husband back to the Church, and the two of them lived together celibately for the rest of their lives, dedicating their time to the sick and the poor in their communities.
