Our Lady of Health for the Sick is a devotion to Our Lady of Health. The shrine of Our Lady of Health of the Sick is located in the diocese of Michoacan, which is located to the west of Mexico City. It was built by the first bishop, Vasco de Quiroga, who is renowned for his generosity. The Tarascans, the indigenous people of Michoacan, were nomadic and intolerant of all forms of restriction. During his tenure as bishop, he oversaw the establishment of the means and accoutrements of civilization, including the Church, the hospital, asylums, workshops and tools, as well as the framework of government and administration.

While Saint Bartholomew is revered as one of Jesus’ twelve chosen Apostles, the specifics of his life remain shrouded in secrecy throughout the history of Christianity. He is named by name in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, and he is always found in the company of the Apostle Philip, according to the New Testament. In the Gospel of John, Bartholomew is not specifically identified by name, but he is described as a colleague of Philip, raising the possibility that Bartholomew and Nathanael are two separate names for the same person in the Bible.

Furthermore, it is thought that he was present when Jesus appeared to numerous Apostles in the Sea of Galilee following His Resurrection, according to tradition.

As a result of the way in which he died, he was elevated to the status of patron saint of tanners, leatherworkers, bookbinders, farmers, butchers, plasterers, housepainters, tailors, and glove manufacturers. They are both patron saints of the Armenian Orthodox church, with St. Jude the Apostle. On the 24th of August, we commemorate the Feast of Saint Bartholomew.

A member of the Twelve Apostles, Saint Bartholomew (flourished in the first century AD —died unknown date, traditionally Albanopolis, Armenia; Western feast day August 24; date varies in Eastern churches) was born on August 24, a day that is celebrated on August 24 in Western churches. The New Testament contains little information on him other than four references to him in the Apostle lists (Mark 3:18, Matt. 10:3, Luke 6:14, and Acts 1:13), and these references are the only ones we have. Bartholomew is a family name that means “son of Tolmai, or Talmai,” which suggests that he may have gone by another given name.

St. Bartholomew, Apostle

He is one of the Twelve Apostles, and he is cited sixth in the three Gospel lists (Matthew 10:3; Mark 3:18; Luke 6:14), and seventh in the list of Acts. He is also known as the “Peter of the Apostles” (1:13). The name (Bartholomaios) is derived from the ancient Hebrew name Talmai, which means “son of Talmai.” With the exception of being mentioned as an Apostle, he is not mentioned anywhere else in the New Testament, at least not under the name Bartholomew: many ancient writers and Catholic tradition have identified Bartholomew as Nathaniel in the Gospel of John, and this has been confirmed by the Vatican (John 1:45-51, and 21:2).

It is precisely this chapter from John (1:45-51) that will be read at Mass on the feast of Saint Bartholomew, in which Nathaniel is brought to Jesus by his friend Phillip, and Jesus says the following about him: “Here is a real son or daughter of Israel.

The Messiah, the Holy One of God, has been waiting for him since he was a decent Jew, honest and pure, a just man, who spends most of his time in solitary thought and prayer “under the fig tree (1:48)” and has been looking forward to him since he was a child.

You are the King of Israel (1:49),” as Jesus mentioned that “Before Philip summoned you, when you were beneath the fig tree, I saw you (1:48).” Having been raised as a “authentic child of Israel,” Nathaniel had a thorough understanding of the Scriptures and was well-versed in what they had to say about the Messiah and where he would come from.

Nevertheless, Nathaniel lacked “duplicity,” which means that his heart was undivided and his motives were pure.

In response to his buddy Phillip’s request to “Come and see (1:46),” he stayed receptive.

King of Israel, you are who you say you are!” “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God,” says Jesus in Matthew 5:8.

Following Jesus’ ascension, nothing is known of Nathaniel/life, Bartholomew’s save that he preached in the East and died a martyr’s death in Armenia, where he was flayed alive for having gained disciples to the Lord Jesus.

Praying to St. Bartholomew for Physical Healing

There are several saints who are consulted for physical diseases and medical disorders, but St. Bartholomewthe Apostle is one of the lesser-known of these. We don’t know nearly as much about the life of St. Bartholomew (also known as Nathaniel) as we do about the lives of the other Apostles, and he remains something of a mystery to us in many respects. In the first chapter of John’s Gospel, however, we have a record of this wonderful dialogue that took place during his first meeting with Christ: The following day, Jesus made the decision to travel to Galilee.

During the wonderful early church’s golden age, when the flame of Christ’s love blazed brightest, when the Gospel was as fresh as baked bread, when gusts of the Holy Spirit blew through the Apostles’ hair, today’s saint lived and evangelized, he was known as “the Apostle of Christ.” However, Bartholomew was either crucified or had his flesh slowly ripped away from his body by a sharp knife, whichever was the case.

The world was also evil in the first century, and as a result, the Church had difficulties at that time period as well.

Despite the fact that the Church was born amid a brutal pagan world, it continues to live in an as hard but slightly different secular one.

It is written in Latin on our parish coat of arms at the top of this website, and it is translated as You will see bigger things than these. It is taken from the Gospel of St. John 1:50, and it means “Greater things than these.” Bartholomew is a member of the Twelve Apostles who is mentioned in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke (as well as the Book of Acts) as a saint.
