Goal #1: Catholic Identity
- St. Margaret of Scotland’s primary goal is Catholic identity. As a community, we are very aware of our religious heritage.
- We work to create a Christ-centered atmosphere in every classroom, as well as the entire school, by emphasizing Christian values.
- The Visions and Values program allows the school to focus on one gospel value each year and carry it throughout liturgies, prayer services, bulletin boards, and service projects.
- Students are constantly reminded of their call to live their lives as followers of Jesus in religion classes.
Goal #2: Academic Excellence
- St. Margaret of Scotland educators continuously strive to provide outstanding academic preparation for each child. For those children struggling to succeed, the Student Assistance Program is in place, and eight trained and qualified educators meet bi-monthly to assess these children’s needs.
- We are always looking for new ways to continue and expand the Special Needs program using Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence approach. The Multiple Intelligence approach in-service workshops allow our faculty to make plans incorporating the student’s areas of strength.
- Committees are formed to order and evaluate the newest textbooks available, allowing us to maintain currency in all academic areas.
- The faculty creates school-wide curriculum mapping to provide continuity in the children’s education.
Goal #3: Technology
- Technology is an ever-changing field, and St. Margaret of Scotland focuses on the ongoing goal of incorporating new technology.
- The faculty is encouraged to maintain and update the relatively new website to communicate more effectively with our students and their parents.
- A future goal is to allow for all classroom computers to have access to the World Wide Web.
- Faculty members will continue to participate in workshops designed for professional development in the area of technology.
- Distance Learning is now available at St. Margaret of Scotland School.
Goal #4: Safety
- We maintain a high level of security for students through established safety guidelines.
- St. Margaret of Scotland staff worked with the Green Tree Police Department and the Green Tree Borough of Emergency Management to implement an Emergency Action Plan for teachers, staff, and workers. The purpose is to inform all school personnel of the proper procedures in order to efficiently and effectively respond in the case of an emergency.
Goal #5: Recruitment/Retention
- We continue to focus our efforts to maintain our current enrollment as well as to recruit new students.
- With communication as a major goal, we continue to inform the Parish community as well as the Green Tree and surrounding communities that we provide a top-quality Catholic education
