Fundraising Events

Lottery Calendars

Each fall, lottery calendars are distributed to all school families that request them. As this is the school’s biggest fundraiser, it is important to have as much participation as possible. Families who opt not to participate in this fundraiser are encouraged to purchase one or two calendars.

The calendar is based on the evening three-digit Pennsylvania lottery number. There is a winner every night for the entire year. The purchase price for the calendar is $30 – less than ten cents a day.

Gift Card Programs

What is a Certificate or a Scrip? Basically, it’s a gift card for a local store that earns a profit for the school. The stores determine what percentage they will give back to SMOSS, and the amounts are designated on the order form.

These programs are an easy way for both the school and its families to help achieve the school’s fundraising goal and lower your tuition bill at the same time. Our program is designated to contribute the profit percentage for each certificate towards your $600 fundraising goal.

Dozens of local stores participate in these programs, including Giant Eagle, Shop-N-Save, Toys R Us, Starbucks and Wendy’s. Also included in the list are JCPenney, Kohl’s, Eat ‘N Park and Pizza Hut.

Here’s how it works: -Shop-N-Save purchase $20 – 5% profit = $1.00 towards fundraising
-Wendy’s purchase $20 – 9% profit = $1.80 towards fundraising
-Max & Erma’s purchase $20 – 13% profit = $2.60 towards fundraising

This totals $5.40 towards your fundraising goal. Perhaps it doesn’t seem like much, but it’s an easy way to work towards your fundraising obligation.

Certificates are sold in the school lobby between 10 and 11 a.m. on Wednesdays. Families may also complete an order form and send it in with their child. Orders received by Wednesday morning will be filled and sent home that day. In order to send home certificates with a child, parents must complete and return a permission slip to school. Payments must be included with all the order for them to be filled. Please make checks payable to St. Margaret School.

Market Day

St. Margaret School proudly participates in the Market Day program, featuring delicious prepared foods featured in a monthly flyer, and on the website www.marketday.com.

St. Margaret School’s account number for Market Day is 9885. The school realizes a 10% profit on all food ordered, which is available on a specific pick up day between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Cafeteria Duty

Each family is obligated to volunteer six times per school year in the school cafeteria during lunch time. Parent Lunchroom Volunteers receive a schedule in the Wednesday folder if scheduled to work. If you have a conflict, please arrange a substitute volunteer as soon as possible. You may opt out of this volunteer duty by paying a $30 fee.
