The goal in our Spanish classes is to have the students enjoy and feel comfortable with their foreign language experience. Students in grades one through five study Spanish at levels appropriate for their age group. Verbal and listening skills are emphasized in the lower grades and written skills are added in the fourth and fifth grades.

In grade six, students study the fundamentals of grammar by practicing pronunciation, conversation and reading. In grades seven and eight, students develop a basic competence in understanding, speaking, reading and writing Spanish. Students in grades six, seven and eight will demonstrate an understanding of basic sentence structure and simple conversation. Each grade discusses the culture and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries as part of their lessons.
