Music

The main goal of the Music program at St. Margaret of Scotland School is to help students develop positive attitudes toward the art of music and to appreciate the various styles of music. The program provides music theory, history, performance, and worship in grades Pre K through 8 in a fun and relaxing, but structured, atmosphere.

In the General Music program, proper singing style is reinforced in all grades. Elementary students learn music concepts and simple theory through singing, play, and other activities. Middle school students focus on the history of classical music and American popular music. Student volunteers lead worship as cantors at school masses. In addition, the school choir includes students from grades 4 through 8. The choir enhances worship at various school masses, Christmas Eve mass, and Easter mass. The ensemble also performs for the borough Light-Up Night. All students’ work is presented through annual performance.
